Magical Misool, Mythical Misool, Misool Madness, whatever way you put it Misool is a pretty special place.
Tied bow and stern to jagged cliffs with unblemished coral surrounding us we were certainly in paradise. Totally alone too! Each morning we would dive off the boat naked into this crystal clear water and start our days wondering if we were still in a dream.
Ripping around in the dinghy we found an old ladder up a cliff so we followed the path and were led to an amazing small hidden lake. Swimming in there with just the bird song as background music we had a truly special experience.

Good morning everyone. We are still in Misool in this beautiful anchorage
0:12
uh called balbalo called
0:18
and we're gonna go up over there somewhere to see the view
0:25
from the top so i took my out of age shoes to walk in the rocks because he
0:31
has everything sharp and yeah we're gonna see what is up there let's go
1:05
zebos
1:41
it's your favorite part huh yeah i love that where the spiders live no i don't like that at all
1:50
this is such an amazing spot it's just mind blowing and it's super quiet and still up here
1:55
today hardly a ripple out there in the ocean yeah so down here we've got shahelian parked
2:02
in this perfect little lagoon amazing coral and cliffs all around turn around here past marie
2:10
you've got the big ocean out there and that's the southern group of islands in the missoula area
2:26
in the darkness
2:37
escapes us
3:06
what do we found here some leather so we can imagine that there's something after it's
3:13
probably a lake or a point of view build things this lady looks a bit broken yeah a bit i'm gonna
3:22
help again i'm not full we're gonna follow the ladder following the ladder but i have only one
3:26
shoe that's gonna be hard as you can see the first leather is in the water and broke under me so it's
3:34
not really useful it's just a sign to say that something but we can't really rely on this ladder
3:44
oh you're already bleeding i already cut my foot open yeah
3:48
you should have shoes such as the life of an adventurer let's go
3:56
that's quite a mission back to raja ampat all these crazy rocks holding on nothing all falling
4:07
forgot about that it's always a mission to walk on land
4:11
in this part of indonesia but the landscapes are worth it look at this color
4:18
this little blue lake the clarity just crazy it's so quiet i can't believe it
4:30
jellyfish no there's some fish
4:35
crazy looking huh yeah you didn't see any spiders well i'm using the gopro as a pole
4:41
against the spiders that's my technique what crosses this place super crazy wow let's jump in
4:51
you hear that i mean you can just jump in but getting out it's going to be tricky oh it's
4:56
so cool finding places like this this is what the whole thing's about really everything's sharp and
5:02
stabby here i've cut my foot i've cut my finger and look at these rocks you have to climb down
5:08
pretty gnarly and you sort of you know well you guys know us we definitely don't really
5:14
think too much about it we just go for it but if you sort of think we're about
5:21
20 hours in our boat 20 hours from the nearest anywhere doctor or hospital or
5:28
internet even sort of makes you think twice like [ __ ] is it worth the risk but after
5:33
thinking twice then you go yeah it's worth the risk definitely all right let's check it out
6:00
is
6:14
is
6:24
myself
6:38
figments are forthcoming is
7:06
is
7:22
me
7:36
basically in a circle here and then the jungle just goes vertical on all sides so you can just
7:42
see sort of a tube up to the sky pretty crazy there's nothing really alive in here i mean
7:47
there's lots of coral but some small fish but i'm guessing there must be really porous rock
7:52
because it's saltwater oh really is that what you've got to say talking of birds
8:00
there must be porous rock that comes in from the ocean but pretty incredible to find this
8:17
oh what an incredible place huh quite crazy to have this kind of freeway swimming pool just
8:23
for us yeah look at this blue water yeah this is a real special uh thing to find
8:30
it's not written in any guest books or or tour guides or anything there is none of that stuff
8:34
but down here in missile obviously we found the ladles letters that the locals make and i guess
8:41
yeah some of the locals or maybe some tourists that stay in the homestays of the locals they get
8:46
brought here but definitely not visited very often pretty special feel pretty privileged to come here
8:58
uh
9:15
ah what an adventure so cool i'm pretty hungry though we need some lunch soon huh
9:24
so on the way back to the boat to get some lunch we spotted this amazing wall and then
9:29
a cave that i could dive into the water was incredibly clear right there but in general
9:35
on our trip down to missoula this time the water was quite green and i think it was
9:39
very seasonal there'd been a lot of rain and storms in the area and i think this churned up
9:43
the water a fair bit but this this particular patch was amazing as you can see and we really
9:48
enjoyed uh you know just that feeling of flying in space when it's the water's that clear
9:54
20 30 meters visibility a lot of fish couple of sharks it was really really cool and then yeah
10:00
when we decided to get back to the boat we pulled up the anchor and headed to a different spot
10:22
so
10:54
it's a little fish it's a little mackerel that's
10:56
awesome that's not tiny but it's a good eating size yeah perfect
11:06
she's pretty good
11:10
hello yeah that's a really good one that's what we wanted
11:15
it's just the size we wanted for dinner oh for the next few dinners
11:22
right guys we're just looking for a new anchorage here we left the other place balboa this morning
11:29
and it's only been about six seven miles down here and uh we're looking for the famous um
11:35
jellyfish lake and i think we found it there's a sign over there and there's a couple of spots
11:40
highlighted on an avionics chart so we're just looking for a place to to anchor right now i think
11:48
this spot looks good surrounded by these cast towers and it's about between 16 and 20 meters
11:55
around this whole zone we don't have a fish finder or like a we just have a depth sounder on board we
12:00
can't see the bottom contours and because we don't want to anchor here and coral um
12:05
i'm just going to jump in quickly and have a look it's 17 18 meters and the color of the water would
12:11
make it look like it's a sand bottom but from the edges we can see coral going down
12:16
and we don't want to drop our anchor on top of coral for sure uh so i mean for two reasons
12:21
we don't destroy the coral obviously and also don't want to get an anchor caught in anything
12:43
so
12:56
oh it's good it's all perfect sand down there so we'll drop the anchor here
13:01
18 all right perfect i'll check the anchor and see how we go
13:13
all right reverse a little bit look at this zone it's just incredible all right slow down
13:23
so even if the bottom was uh actually not coral it seems it was a tiny bit of sun just on top
13:30
of rocks so the anchor was not grabbing on it so we decided to find another place and
13:38
in front of where we were there's a tiny bay like a tiny hook like this and we are planning
13:45
to do as we did before like then just put a rope here he's actually starting a second one here
13:52
and we're gonna attach was ourself uh just in between it's a quite nice place and at least this
13:59
wool big island gonna protect us in case there's uh any school in the night or in the days because
14:08
the weather since we came here is not really peaceful we can't say we have a lot of wind but
14:13
it's not really stable right now it's a bit raining and i think it's
14:17
gonna probably be a bit stormy in the afternoon so that's quite good to be a bit protected
14:30
looks good yeah i think we're pretty prepared let's get the boat in there now and uh i got the
14:39
bow line around the rock and the stand line around the rock and one rope prepared on a
14:43
on a fender we'll get the boat in there now and tie them all together looks like it's just
14:48
about to start raining yeah good timing well done sorry yeah all tied up front and back um
15:00
yeah beautiful little spot i don't know what depth oh it's in 14 meters
15:03
yeah we've only got probably 20 meters each side of the boat pretty secure here in our
15:09
little cove and yeah the lake where you want to go and visit is just right over there and
15:15
beautiful we're going to sort everything out make sure everything's ship shape and cooling
15:22
down try to guess the temperature with my face full of sweat super heavy you've got a big sweat
15:29
mustache so amazing we can have anchorages like this where we're just sort of surrounded
15:44
by beautiful coral i really like tying onto rocks on that because you're really close
15:49
you could never anchor this close to something because you you know you're swinging around
15:54
yeah we couldn't anchor over the other side it was a bit yeah it wasn't very good
15:59
the patch that i saw when i dived down it was looking good but there must have been other
16:03
well i think maybe it was just sand on top of a rock the anchor didn't dig in and it was
16:07
just skipping along and didn't really feel very safe i would have had to put out a lot of scope
16:12
but there wasn't really enough room to put out a lot of scope so just i don't know i go off my gut
16:17
instincts a lot with in general with sailing off the boat and especially anchoring and the gardens
16:22
things just were this is not the right spot we didn't like it would have been fine just to get
16:27
in the dinghy and go to the jellyfish lake and not stay the other night but we need to stay somewhere
16:31
tonight and that just didn't feel like that and i think that's a pretty good i need to go and
16:38
close the windows now i think that's a pretty good thing for any of you out there i'm sure i'm gonna
16:44
put away books any of you out there as well like you can be taught stuff you know there's obviously
16:52
you look at maps and blah blah blah but the gut instinct i mean once you've got some experience
16:57
obviously um the gut instinct is it's something you really need to listen to but also in life
17:04
in general you know like what to say to what to say to girls that was always something to me like
17:08
well it's normally going on in the back you heard what you should say so you just say it
17:13
and uh when dealing with people and when making deals and all that sort of
17:16
stuff the gut instinct normally guides you pretty well it's just a lot of times we we
17:24
tell ourselves to doubt it or don't don't believe it or just ignore it completely but mostly it's
17:31
right when it comes to sailing and anchoring and things like that i really trust my gut instinct
17:36
um no not just that obviously but looking at the surroundings and over there just didn't feel
17:41
right this feels way better and way more it's just a bit like yeah and now yes so we're good
17:48
so now we're gonna go to the jellyfish lake i'm a bit anxious about it because they are
17:55
nice jellyfish they are not burning but there are a lot apparently in i hope they are still there
18:00
and then kovy didn't kill all of them so that's the new adventure
18:06
but for that guys you'll have to wait for next week we've got uh i think this video is probably
18:12
long enough and we've still got a few adventures here in missoula so we'll bring that all to you
18:16
next week thanks to patrons guys awesome continued support is very very valuable and appreciated
18:23
