We are sailing back to Papua and we could not be happier! Titon Bay is a place we've heard a lot about but never visited but too get there we first had to make the crossing from Tual. The winds looked promising and after the the sailing we've been doing recently I was hoping for another fast passage. The night turned out to be a very good one and fast, with average speeds in the 7's. It was amazing to wake up and see the jungle tops islands and turquoise waters.

This week's video, yep it's another passage video.
0:04
Off to Triton Bay including the epic sunset drone shots you see here enjoy!
0:18
Good morning guys, welcome back another episode. Today we're pulling up the anchor from Tual and
0:24
doing an overnight passage to triton bay which is on the mainland of papua we didn't really
0:29
film anything in tuala i think we've only been here three nights maybe and basically most of
0:35
the time was involved with getting fuel getting provisions but to be honest the reason why we're
0:40
sort of moving fast these last few days is the weather is just crappy at the moment i guess it's
0:45
the time of the year but it's just squalls all the time like day and night you're not really feeling
0:50
safe on the anchorage anywhere it's not cool it's not fun to go to the beach or do anything much
0:55
because it's just windy and raining and rough seas and it's just not not fun at all so we're trying
1:01
to get more east and north um get out of this weather pattern this sort of bander sea area is
1:07
quite well known for this being rough and that so yeah we're taking off we're just
1:11
going straight over to triton bay we'll get there early in the morning it looks like during
1:15
the night it'll be pretty good win so looking forward to this passage anyway enjoy the video
1:30
hello
1:39
well within uh two minutes of starting we've got fricken squad already
1:43
clear this freshly washed hat freshly put on shirt
1:53
bloody getting rained on already what a bastard
1:57
i'm going to dodge a few bits of reef here in the channel too
2:11
good
2:29
well as fast as it comes the squall they bugger off again look there it is
2:37
and there there's what's afterwards
2:42
there's still a few behind us but um yeah we're all good again
2:45
beautiful just uh throw some more sale and go again
2:52
they they stick around the landmasses though so once we get six or seven miles off these islands
2:57
we'll probably be alright but having said that we probably won't be it's hard to know we can
3:03
fly to bloody mars and all over the place and make a metaverse and all this stuff
3:07
but we still can't know what the hell is going on with the weather from one minute to the next
3:13
pretty interesting i wish someone would just concentrate on that for a while what about
3:15
elon we could do that probably figure out the weather for us what are you doing i'm doing the
3:21
lunch for one time i'm cooking and then was not okay to fill me because i'm always the one who
3:28
looks super lazy on the boat but sometimes i'm doing the cooking when we are sailing
3:34
yep she feels sick normally when we're sailing but this time i said pull your finger out get
3:40
down there be a good first mate and cook me some lunch no he did you didn't say that and
3:48
i'm quite glad that you didn't because i would probably say do yourself it's good baby steps
3:54
we've there's no swell we're still behind some islands when we're we're just leaving
3:57
two also we've still got a lot of shelter so but she's getting used to cooking at sea
4:09
so what do we got we've got um eggplant sweet saute sauce boiled eggs and some
4:19
white rice look at all this lovely fruit and veg we got buddy awesome got avocados
4:25
pineapples naga apple papaya and these ones here are called sau that tastes like in a honey pear
4:37
and then we've got here we've got jumbo jumbo it's like it's called a rose apple
4:43
and what we got lemons yeah that's about all and then like ginger for tea we've got sweet
4:49
potatoes onions normal potatoes we've got our garlic in here yeah so we got we got
4:55
loaded up with fresh stuff and it was our friend harris here he just sort of hooked
5:00
us up with everything it's pretty awesome oh we went to the market this morning too to be honest
5:09
i guess we're about 20 miles out now like i thought it's all cleared up no more squalls around
5:15
there's there's only barely enough wind we're doing six knots
5:19
which is good but it's a beam reach so there's some swell from the side and
5:26
it's actually good right now but before it was just sort of every now and again you'd get a
5:30
wave that would flip you over and the boom would come over to the preventer and then
5:35
bang back again and yeah terrible life terrible life i don't know how he put up with this crap
5:43
no so luxury problems not really a big deal i'm actually going a bit off course just to go
5:48
a slightly forward of the beam just to have a bit more apparent wind
5:52
so we get a bit more speed and a little bit more pressure to keep the
5:56
wave action down and in the night if the wave if the wind comes up a bit we'll just get back
6:00
on course then or whatever we'll figure it out beautiful day for sailing anyway
6:05
marie's feeling a little bit sick just lying on her throne and hopefully it'll come right
6:27
so
7:40
okay
7:43
well
7:46
another successful sailing drone flight
7:50
probably flew a little bit too early because i think the amazing light's just going to happen now
7:55
yeah it is look over there but uh yeah it looked like the sun was getting blocked in the clouds
8:04
and you know you only got sort of 20 minutes flying time to give it you know 10-minute
8:09
buffer to get back and land so i didn't want to leave it too late and then have really dark light
8:16
and just shoot silhouettes but then by flying early and getting good shots of the boat i'm sort
8:21
of missing the really good light in the background but anyway i'll film that for you with a normal
8:26
camera now but that was some pretty awesome drone shots right there i hope you enjoyed that
8:30
i always enjoy it when i get to land the drone safely
8:38
yeah nice end to the day the wind's starting to slowly pick up now it's the ride's pretty smooth
8:45
um yeah we've got about a meter swell i guess pretty nice
8:49
i can't really ask for more i think it's going to be a pretty nice night
8:52
and then by the time i wake up in the morning we'll probably nearly see land again so pretty
8:57
optimum little passage pretty stoked though we've been in the last two or three weeks we've done
9:04
yeah i don't know probably a thousand thousand miles in passages like we've done i think four
9:09
maybe not a thousand miles maybe 700 but it's it's good moving again i really like sailing actually
9:15
and i feel more relaxed out here no internet i'm not worrying about anything you know just worrying
9:21
about what's here what's now like actually living as all the hipsters would say like you know i'm
9:27
in the flow i don't know if it's a flow but just living you know like not worried about
9:32
outside influences or what people are thinking or you know in the cities people asking me to
9:38
buy something off them it's just maybe it's a selfish way to think but
9:42
just out here it just feels like this is us this is me and marie we're living out here
9:46
it's beautiful but i think i like it more than cheetos to be honest but pretty awesome i love
9:52
it watching this flying fish jump around sunsets like this look at that can't get better really
10:04
it's about 7 30 at night now the wind's slowly starting to fill in and um the swell has actually
10:10
turned around a bit in our favor too so it's quite nice and we're just cruising along we're uh what
10:15
are we doing yeah like six knots it's a pretty good speed for us on the the night you know we're
10:21
reefed down and um pretty awesome uh i think it's going to be a really nice night it's quite a big
10:28
well it's not a very big moon but it's very bright moon the the stars are out
10:33
and it's a very clear night and um i think it's going to be going to be a nice relaxing night
10:53
so
11:01
beautiful morning we had a sieve a nice night like sailing almost seven nights
11:10
all night vernon did almost everything tonight because i was feeling quite sick
11:17
and yeah yesterday when we left i was thinking i was feeling a bit sick but that was weird because
11:23
that that was time and in fact with what i had this night i think i had a kind of food poisoning
11:30
or it's something that my belly was not happy about so yeah vernon was bored alone this night
11:38
but yeah that was really nice going fast super nice scene no big waves no squall and yeah now
11:48
the the wind is is a bit dead so we're gonna have to turn on the engine and he's gonna slip a little
11:56
bit and i can see already a bit the island and that was a super easy passage i would say
12:04
we are getting closer of treating bay and we have an amazing weather i think signs rotate uh
12:14
probably in october we didn't have a blue bird and a nice temperature with dry hair like this
12:22
and it's so enjoyable got a fish on i think the first time this year that we've got a fish on
12:30
yesterday in two hours i bought a couple of rapala uh lures we've been using cheap
12:36
chinese ones and they just well the combination of being in a place where there's not only plastic
12:42
these raffles oh look jumping i think it's a spanish mackerel maybe first fish this year
13:00
what is that stop stop stop nelly you're nearly free stop
13:11
oh now i've got the other one in there okay got it
13:19
so no dinner fish dinner tonight i don't know we catch this weird fish it was looking a bit
13:26
like a remora but it was smelling not so good and i don't think it's eatable but
13:32
at least the lure he's working wow this place is stunning we just arrived to aiduma island
13:40
and man what a crazy it's just like being back in raja i'm part nearly look at this place
13:50
52 meters here still
13:56
wow this is just magical undescribable like beauty right here
14:05
unbelievable we might be able to anchor right in here in a few days when you come back this way
14:11
incredible looking yeah we've arrived at a triton bay divers resort here you can see behind me
14:18
and what a paradise this is we just put down the anchor pretty much exactly 24 hours after we left
14:25
but the last well what is it now 1 p.m i think at 5 o'clock we lost the wind 5 o'clock this morning
14:33
through the night we had an amazing passage we were just flying just reefed right down and just
14:39
flying like high sevens for 10 hours in a row or something and then yeah then we passed a little
14:46
island and that was at zero wind for the next 40 miles so we motored my motor sailed that whole
14:51
way but it was okay anyway we are in paradise and we're anchored in 15 meters here and it's
14:59
pretty stunning can't wait to show you guys around yeah i can't wait to to get in the water here and
15:05
look around but um it feels like we've really changed places now well three all these last
15:12
few places actually weta where the crocodiles were and then banda and then tual which we didn't film
15:20
but they've all been remarkably different from one another and now we're here on the on the
15:25
well over there that's the mainland of papua papua new guinea papua indonesia so we're really
15:31
in papua now the people are totally different the languages are different the customs are different
15:36
and the the landscape and the even humidity everything's different here and it really we
15:41
really feel it just being here it's we've changed totally a location now so it's pretty amazing
15:48
what are you doing in the water cooling down where are we how did we get here so fast
15:55
so fast but it was 24 hours it was not so fast
16:00
oh for you you slept the whole way yeah you feel like a dream yeah exactly i'm waking up in the
16:07
i hope you guys enjoyed that one probably a bit of a short one we've had a few passage
16:11
videos in a row now but uh yeah we've we've been really enjoying the the moving and um
16:18
i i've just loved it i want to sail more actually like just being out in the water i've just sort
16:23
of missed it we've been coastal hopping this year and you're just sort of like looking at
16:27
the mild counter and oh are we gonna get there before sunset and and it's all about the next
16:33
anchorage where it's actually just like being out in the ocean and you know if you're going
16:38
fast if you're going slow or whatever just is what it is and when you get there you get there
16:43
and you can just sort of turn your brain off and and not worry about things and
16:47
that's sort of the freedom feeling back again i really like it thanks patrons hard times for a lot
16:53
of you guys i know there's been in the last couple of months more patrons leave us than join us
16:59
i'm guessing through the whole day period money's tight and uh you would rather spend some of that
17:05
money on your family and i totally understand that so any any of you guys that are you know feeling
17:09
the pinch we're all good you know look where we are we're fine we obviously appreciate your
17:15
um donations and and support on what we're doing here but if times are tough well we totally
17:20
understand that and we hope you'll come back and uh join us again you know when when things
17:26
get better or whatever and um all good much love to you guys and uh we'll see you next week bye
