it's a little rocky up here on the bow

so i'll give the captain a break while

we cruise on out to the reef

we love cruising and sailing to the reef

and other places our mcgregor can take

us but that's not the only reason we

love this boat

so while i suit up take a second and

oh crap a lot of jellyfish get away from

he went right over sea turtle within the

first 30 seconds and he just

he didn't know what to do he just kind

of it looked like he was gonna he went

down the bottom just kind of waited for

you and you went

right over the top of him

i yelled turtle in the video so you

should you should be able to see the

spot

um hopefully they'll come up in the

video you should be able to see the spot

of his shell

you don't want to take a break this is

my break

i don't know if later in the day after

snorkeling i'm going to be able to do

this

no this is this is it i just didn't know

if you want a break here or

somewhere else he had a pretty big

audience on that boat over there

everyone turned around and looked

i'm screaming like a nut yeah but i

couldn't help it

yeah i know it's good wakeboarding in

this clear water of the atlantic ocean

is amazing

so let's give it another go

the captain is actually a great

wakeboarder much better than me

i just can't get him to go behind the

mcgregor yet

my hands are killing me my legs are

killing me

take off the board some of the rope

because you're getting in and i'm

leaving

you did awesome babe thank you

i haven't i've gone in a year over a

year

i was afraid i wasn't even gonna be able

to get up like riding a bike

this popped open oh sh

i see water in the case oh god is it

okay

yeah it's still on so you're back in the

boat

wake boarding in the keys and shaking

because my legs are tired

even if it comes closer yeah if it comes

close oh there's a turtle right there

he was at three o'clock i lost him in

the grass

that must have been what the other shape

was in the distance

this is a big turtle country here all

right now you're pulling the boat

all right there's nothing there's

nothing out there come back in

i mentioned something's in the water and

this is what happens i get to look at a

butt grabbing a ladder

and she won't come back in the boat i

gotta stop telling her there's stuff in

the water

i think we saw an eagle ray i'm pretty

sure now it was an eagle ray because it

was such

it was darker than the turtle shell and

it was moving about the same

all right babe let's get back in the

boat

so

oh and the mcgregor comes with a great

swim up bar

[Music]

so we've had an ongoing problem with

finding water in the bilge and in other

places in the boat like this reservoir

that's just underneath the cockpit floor

we installed this temporary fix of pvc

on the top and bottom halves of the door

to stop water from entering here

but we continued to find large amounts

of water on the interior

so we removed the composite decking that

the captain had put in we cleaned up

and i went in the stoop throughs while

the captain

filled the cockpit with water and i

looked for any potential leaking areas

we put a loctite marine epoxy

mixed it up and added it into the holes

and let it cure 24 hour cure right yeah

uh well it says it it sets in two hours

and 24 hours is secured so

all right are you stupid or something

one of the problems is when the water

pools in the cockpit here

it comes in around the base of these

pipes one of them we know or we believe

to be factory the other one we think

that the former

owner put in and

neither one of us know what the material

is is holding those pipes in but it's

leaking like crazy it's filling up the

belgian

son yep there too

this uh cable right here is our steering

cable which is the

most rigid one and the radius on it it

can only turn

um two two foot radius so but we think

what

will work is we're gonna go into the

side of the cockpit

here we've decided to take a chance on

being able to do that in the future to

take these pipes out and fiberglass over

the floor completely because when i was

under there the water was

just pouring in go ahead and take off

all of our instruments here and we're

going to start

fiberglassing these uh holes

yeah the only holes we're going to have

in our cockpit is for the drains which

makes sense to me yeah no kidding

this will provide a backing

so we have the backing fiberglass on the

holes

already set and for the core material

instead of stacking a bunch of

fiberglass i'm going to use

bondo glass which is great for

water environments it's bondo with

strands of fiberglass in it

it makes really hard core why are you

putting it on that first

because you have to it's a two-part so

you have to mix it with

the hardener lord i can smell it over

here should you be smelling that

i don't smell anything

so the mixer it's very uneven for this

much material you need like one line of

hardener

okay i'm pretty pretty happy with it and

if you want it to

be thicker you just keep mixing it until

it starts to kick off because once it

kicks off it really

hardens really fast

yeah you flatten it out nicely yeah the

helm goes

goes uh over that so it won't show if

it's not

super pretty plus we're we're probably

gonna put down a flooring on top of this

yes

but this is um this is epoxy

two part resin one part hardener and i

added the

filler to it i showed the powdered

filler mm-hmm

this one's come a little bit on the

mixing plate here so i'm just going to

mix it into the fibers

let the glass absorb it apply it to the

top

to cap in our work

this is extremely sloppy but it's all

behind the console

a little more box to the top and work

that in

again this is out of sight so i'm not

worried about it

looking terrible because i know it does

and this is just to protect the

bondo so if anything hits it the future

won't

and we're gonna go back later and sand

this down so it looks all nice

are we gonna we're gonna sand it out to

make it level

no it's a little proud so that water

doesn't collect there

oh okay and then we're gonna sand it

down just to make a you know

are your edges bad or something i can't

see up over the edge here yeah it's a

real rough edge because

oh okay you know it's an out of sight

patch

yeah set up the

the support the base underneath with the

glass of cloth

then i put the bondo glass as the core

and i set the top layer

of glass on top of this all within

15 minutes so everything not only has a

mechanical bond but it has a chemical

bomb because they're all setting at the

same time

so we accomplished the goal which was a

quick repair to stop

water from coming in and um

there were two large holes almost inch

and a half

there's an inch and a half pipe no i

would say two inch yeah absolutely two

possibly two and a half inch well one of

them the big gray one was like two and a

half inches

all right i gotta get to my stuff before

the sun goes down okay cool
