the reason for Beverly going up the mass
today is in evidence
we now have a courtesy flag up and we
have our anchor shape up
alright gainer what just went wrong
there had this beautiful passage plan
all sorted we're gonna go to the scary's
or fortunately the weather is just not
with it because we've currently got wind
coming from the north which means that
the scary is is gonna be a leeward sure
so plans go out the window
yep night correctly wrong but the scary
was absolutely brilliant for every wind
direction except one
and that wind direction is the one we've
got correct on the forecast my favorite
though forecast says the wind's coming
90 degrees different direction yeah but
the problem is then you seem to get
localized weather and things like that
it gives you an overall plan it's not
very good on the small scale no so we've
got another plan and we're going to go
out all of it hop skip and a jump to
islands I and Park up the back of it
which apparently will be good for the
wind direction we've got so we expect
the wind direction to change anytime now
today's push its plan is a very simple
one we're going from here to here and
it's not very far it's about three or
four nautical miles and there's next to
no end and there's very little tide and
we can see we're recording before we
leave so that's pretty much the passage
planning done as you can see from the
scale in this map compared to my pencil
this is not very big this is the same
passage on a much bigger scale so we
start from dying here in height we could
run in the back of Ireland's eye we come
up past malahide and we're planning to
curr next to this Martello tower in
about two meters of water and the reason
we're doing this is because the wind is
a slight north westerly component so
this headland will give us some shelter
please we wanted to go to it's a little
further up was scary's and we wanted to
anchor in here and unfortunately for
that wind direction as you can see
scary's is a leisure and is not a good
anchorage there was an island lam bay
island halfway up there are some eye
creatures on it but unfortunately
they're on this side on the top side and
there's a fairly open one on this side
and they're all quite rocky and we
didn't quite fancy any of them so we
decided to skip that and instead we're
heading for the this shallow water near
the March avatar and that's what we're
going to do instead
how don't seem to be able to get
anything right I'd really do try my
little best but we were pulling up the
anchor this morning and we've got a ball
on it so that we could see where the Ben
van thing was the anchor was and Bev
said one thing I don't want you to do is
to drive the putty ball so I went back
to get the anchor so the boat ready and
by the time I came back basically we've
gone over the ball basically our moral
of this story is we've got to get
everything ready and just just so
annoying so what we're gonna have to do
is call for assistance again we've got
the mooring ball off the anchor so now
it's just stuck and we've dropped the
anchor again so that we are at least in
we're relatively safe as in we've
stopped but I've no idea how this one's
going to end up but not done everything
right again
that's what sailing sometimes is about
steep learning curve on the end of this
yellow line is our mooring ball

so it's on the end of that yellow line
somewhere over there a boat school
nothing I'm just talking somewhere over
there a boat it's coming to rescue us

really are very nice people
