hey guys
welcome back to sv basic it's been a
really fun past couple of weeks we've
been doing the nice weather
last you guys saw us we were in venetia
yeah
actually venetia was a really
surprisingly nice town
we didn't expect it because we didn't
actually anticipate going there
but it was it was just it was really
pretty
it was nice and clean and the people
there are so
friendly i especially love the buildings
yeah
also they have great donuts
okay so right before we leave we decided
to treat ourselves to these mini donuts
that they make fresh here every morning
and it's called the double rainbow
donuts so
this is just a fun treat for us this is
not something that we typically do
but obviously there is a reason why
there's a line out the door all the time
so really excited to see what they come
up with
cannot wait to eat these
i don't know where yours are but these
are mine
so once we secured our haul out date
we had you know a little bit of time to
go play up in the delta so we left
benicia
and we figured we'd head towards sassoon
bay
and enjoy some of the nice warm waters
well emma thinks it's warm it was warmer
but
i liked it but she was the only one in
but she spent hours in there she had
i think you had a good time yeah it was
fun i i personally
am a little scared of water that i can't
see the bottom of
so on our little trip
it was not too far it's about eight
miles from uh benicia
up to susum bay and then we went up into
the bay
and we had to go under uh one
train bridge that was that was
interesting
are you a little nervous
yeah i'm nervous look at this we have
a 61-foot stick on this boat and the
vertical clearance
is 70 feet we have a four foot whip
antenna
that gives us about five feet of
clearance
but it just doesn't look right does it
it looks too short
okay i kicked on the engines just to uh
just in case just in case
we should be fine they would have said
something already at this point
well you gotta trust the charts the
chart's called 70 feet of uh vertical
clearance
okay that's one down two more to go i'm
not worried about the third one
i'm not either it's just the second one
look at this old bridge this is the rail
the railroad bridge
it does not look like it's gonna make it
doesn't
crash we did it
okay let's go oh my gosh that was weird
that was the worst feeling
okay
holy cow that was awesome
so as our haulout date got closer we
decided to leave
sassoon bay and start working our way
closer
to the haul out facility
[Music]
that means heading up the napa river but
as we entered the napa river lynn
noticed this
slight vibration in our port
engine and we didn't know what it was we
were a day
early to head into napa so we pulled
into vallejo
for the night and tried to figure things
out
[Music]
man she's getting good good job
how's the water pretty good actually
is it chilly yeah but it's good with a
wetsuit
i just measured it 70.4 degrees
that's good that's good for you but i'm
a little scared i hate cold water
here i'm gonna i'm gonna put the ladder
down so i'm not jumping in i'm gonna eat
myself man
what do you think don't be a chicken
just do it
i don't see you jumping in i am a
chicken
i'm scared of the cold water okay i can
do this it's not too bad
okay go find out what's happening with
our um with our prop
i'm gone
let's i'm scared to dip my arms
okay just go all the way don't be a baby
okay 70 degrees
okay i could do this
you you're crazy girl
i'm just oh he's short of breath it's so
[Music]
chilly
this will be funny because you can
barely go down
you just float you just you're going
ready
super graceful
it's a bunch of plastic wrap through all
the prop
you're right i am right huh okay i'll go
down to free it
okay
okay i'm not gonna be here long
can i you can if you want yeah i think i
could
[Music]
oh my goodness
throw that up here
not too bad i gotta check the
uh reversing screw bombed other
so teal is just assessing and just
checking out our runners this is the
first time we've kind of been in
somewhat clear waters the one thing
that's good
and bad about the delta system is that
uh the water's
a little bit warmer but uh the
visibility is really bad
okay it looks good so far so good so far
anything else yeah i'm getting the hell
out of here oh come on emma makes it
look like it's so much
fun it's not so bad look at it she's
loving it
like i said people don't be fooled by
emma she makes everything look like
super fun and everything is just
amazing but it is
the next morning we got up and we left
[Music]
vallejo
[Music]
so this is a big day for us we are
heading into napa marina
i talked to mike at the boatyard and he
suggested that we go in a day earlier so
that he can kind of assess
and look at our boat and get a game plan
on getting us hauled out so there's a
couple of reasons why we decided
in this last month why we wanted to haul
out
number one being it's been over a year
since our last
call out yep and you know there's been a
lot of things that's happened since then
you know we had that
friendly collision with the log yes that
was fun
so obviously we want to make sure that
that's all good and you know
there's a couple tweaks this was a great
shakedown for
us coming down the coast and we've
learned a lot more
on our boat we have forgive me for
staring at the chuck potter
we are heading up the napa river it's
deceptively
uh shallow all around us it looks like
you could sail anywhere in here
but we're going through a very narrow
channel
with not many markers so i've got my
eyes glued to the chart plotter
we've been told the navionics uh
charts are real accurate in here so
we're trusting them and they're
they look dead on so far so and actually
the really good thing about this marina
is when you go on their website they
give very
detailed instructions on how to get into
their marina because it is kind of
tricky there's a lot of shallow
areas there is all sorts of obstacles
coming up here but it's uh
sure keeps you on your toes it's a good
day though because there's no wind
um and it's just we're in a flood tide
we're running with a flood tide so
we uh just in case you do get into a
shallow area you have the rest of the
tide to lift you out
that's the idea and we'll be hitting
napa marina
right as uh the tide peak so that's what
we're timing
and it's working out pretty good so far
the depths have been
20 feet or less for most of this trip
and it's a short trip about eight miles
you guys excited yeah one of these
always looks so narrow when you come in
so we have a couple hours before our
haul out time
so we're going to do as much as we can
to
kind of stow some items and just get
prepared for those haul outs
even though it's it's been only a year
i'm still nervous
i know i was looking at those 15 months
actually crazy
napa is actually a real cool marina it's
a working
marina and a lot of hustle and bustle
here
there is a well it's kind of a
multi-hole hub
there's probably 25 maybe more
multi-holes in here right now lots of
catamarans and trimarans
they have the equipment to haul us out
it's a different um fallout
for us this time we're not going to be
in a sling it's going to be in a cradle
system
so that should be interesting yeah i
think it'll be uh i went over and looked
at the equipment
they have nice equipment here and they
know what they're doing
so why is it hope fingers crossed this
goes smooth
i'm sure it will in the meantime we're
going to stow
our outboard um because we want to do
some work on it
just a little tune-up and then our
dinghy needs a good
scrubbing so that should be interesting
and fun i guess fun
[Music]
there's nothing like a clean dinghy
though come on
there you go again
now this actually looks like a tight
spot to get into
it's so amazing because
other boats with wider beams and us
have to snake into the very end to be
hauled out
right there we're gonna be stationed
here
and probably within the hour we'll be
out of the water
[Music]
so
so here we are all settled into the napa
marina
this is a great place for us to finally
get a couple of these big projects done
that we've been wanting to do
so for so long i know and
we're going to get a little used to the
weather we're not used to this warm
temperatures yet it's a hundred degrees
today what do you think
yeah it's uh it's warm but you know we
can handle it it's just
gets a little it's something to get used
to we'll get acclimated up here
anyways guys thanks for watching this
week's episode onboard lifestyle if you
liked it don't forget to leave a like
and subscribe to our channel come back
next week to see another awesome new
video
see you then bye
so you guys this is
no good no bueno okay
because plastic does not belong
in our oceans and our waterways this is
bad for the environment
it's bad for the sea life it is bad for
our boats
it's bad for our props
