welcome back to SB basic well yes we're
still in the art we originally thought
we'd be out of here in six weeks and we
probably would have we're going on week
seven now most you know we had a family
tragedy and it's it put the boat
projects on hold I mean we I mean at
that point it was all about family but
we're back on the boat
and we're starting to get back in the
groove gotta get testy basic back in the
water let's take a little while to get
motivated what we're about there
you know the projects were going smooth
and we're getting things done then we
got a little ways to go
we figure
another two weeks now that we're here
full-time we start knocking the
project's out forgot the through holes
done last week look at this bridge deck
is all sanded out bridge deck stiffeners
done still a couple things left - three
holes left these are actually the
through holes for the engines this is
the exhaust for the engine we're not
removing these I'm just raising these a
little bit they were too close to the
waterline I wasn't happy or that I want
to raise them up six inches above the
waterline we're starting to do some
detail work start fairing out the little
Nick's and chips and cuts in the hall
before paint the cassettes are all glass
tin now these will be fared in actually
I'm gonna fair this one in today I fared
this one end the other day it's about
done I think one more skim coat I could
just feel just a touch of imperfection
maybe right in here but beside that
we're getting real close for paint on
that as well what we're gonna have to do
is paint the boot stripe first I've been
working on sanding out the boot stripe
and fairing in all these imperfections
here this was all loose paint at sanded
it out and fared feels believe or not
just feel smooth blend up taping off the
boot stripe and painting that first I
want to let that cure for a day or two
well probably more than that actually a
few days and we can work on other
projects that way I could tape onto the
boot stripe and paint the white and tape
on the boot stripe to paint the bottom
paint so this boot stripe needs to cure
fully so when the tapes on it it doesn't
peel it back so we have a lot to do in
the next few weeks let's get this boat
back in the water but you know what
we're gonna do it so let's get to work
okay one thing I don't talk about a lot
is when you lay down epoxy in between
the layers it blushes so what you have
to do is wipe it down with soap and
water
what Lynn's doing now we do this just a
matter for laying down another layer of
epoxy if we're putting down a primer or
a barrier code or if we're putting
Ferenc compound it's nice to get that
flush off there first
okay let's get some varying compound
mixed up I'm such a slave driver man I
wish I could help teal and put this
bearing compound down but I tried this
stuff is hard when teal doesn't it looks
easy what I do it it looks like I'm
playing with play-doh or silly putty
looks like a kid did it so I'm just
gonna admire the view see you and just
hang out I'm assisting though
[Music]
okay when I'm putting down fairy
compound
I just skim on just really thin layers
and then I'll use a 220 grit on a
sanding block and just hand sand this
all out and then I could feel it and if
I need it
another skim coat goes on and then I'll
hand see on that out and eventually all
the little bumps and ridges and cuts
they just just melt away I'm getting
close on this one I think one more layer
maybe to what we're getting there
okay just spent the better part of about
three and a half hours fairing and
sanding and you know they're getting
close maybe a little bit more detail on
here let's take a look at this let's
shine up on the light here and yeah I'm
getting there starting to like this I
might find out just a couple other
little marks that I might fare out
but beside that look at that spot ready
for barrier coat and paint on this one
it's getting hot out I think I'll take a
break rest today go spend some time with
the family
[Music]
[Music]
[Music]
and just like that it's a new day while
we're getting down to the wire on some
of these projects I really need to
attack this boot stripe let me secure
for a while before I do some other
projects in order to do the boo stripe
to finish this transom and you know what
this is looking pretty good real happy
with that but I need to get a barrier
coat on here
I also need to get rid of this
through-hole Finnick I have one on each
side these are the engine exhausts and I
don't like the location I'm moving these
up but order do that I didn't get these
out believe it or not these are in a
tough location inside the acquirement
and there they have so much 5,200 on the
inside
I can't unpretty so I'm gonna have to
cut these out before I do the repair so
that's my project this morning let's get
these things out of there we'll see how
they go okay stuff back in the engine
compartment let's take a look at what I
have to deal with Sal this electrical
near this I have to be careful I have a
lot of room this needs to be cut out
this little support is useless I don't
need it I'm gonna cut this back as well
and this is gonna move up to this
position right about here it'll clear
all my wire just perfect but cutting us
out is a bugger
oh that came off a little too easy and
that's why I don't like it
so close to the waterline for that to
pop off that easy wow that's dangerous
okay let's cut this thing the rest the
way out of here
think I'm getting their skin real close
it's catching on something
there we go it's out okay here was my
problem look at this this is fifty two
hundred and it's been sealed with it all
the way down the threads here you know
what I have new ones that I'm putting in
any way I'll give this to somebody if
they want to try to break this free but
that's not a project for me Len just
broke the hose free on this one so I'm
cut this one out as well it's sealed the
same way
okay the starboard sides a little tight
for me oh you get it
so go linen here manhandle on that I use
my foot to its exhaust but you got that
didn't yeah I did
good job okay thank you get out of here
where you fit in there way easier than I
do
[Music]
okay that through-holes are out and i'm
not gonna go into detail on how i patch
these holes you can just check out
episode 69 moving into good detail on
how we did that blends inside here right
now prep on the interior surface all
smiles how you doing how's it look in
there good
how far away are we from that bracket do
I need to cut that up a little more okay
okay keep at it
I'm gonna start getting the epoxy ready
okay we'll check that game after these
are filled
[Music]
okay two days later
I'm checking back in look at this this
is where the engine exhaust exited the
boat I mean I closed my eyes I can't
even feel where these are at I mean it
just feels smooth as can be I feel good
about those well get this boot stripe
painted paint the white and then read
rill but I've been working under here
prepping the boat for paint that's
coming up quick so I'll concentrate on
this Oh probably the next two or three
days just working through the hole here
and just finding every little make and
cut sanding it out fearing it and just
doing all the detail work that takes so
much time paints coming on I don't know
I would say we'll start painting in two
or three days so I got a lot to do so
I'll just keep at it okay it's getting
late I'm gonna call it dinner's almost
ready
catch you guys later
you
so we had a little emergency in the yard
and the caper next to us their roots
just collapsed so teal right over there
and he's assisting them
[Music]
there's a windstorm going on right now
so they're trying to clamp them
Ruth back together
[Music]
filled up there somewhere
the guys are all working together what's
great about the yard is that everyone
chipped in
close together
back together forever
community great so the guys and gals
I just read that box of clamps
[Music]
yeah
[Music]
yeah
[Applause]
[Music]
watch the truck
just keep bringing the roll-up
okay take it all back our project is
nothing okay
so that was a little entertaining
that was fun my voice is hoarse from
screaming so much so we're right here
and we heard this big Jeff microburst
shred the top of their structure so they
were totally unaware at the time seven
miles per hour today I know they were a
little off okay let's get some rest I
think they have it now
[Music]
[Music]
while we put about sixty clamps on there
and lashed as much as we could down
hopefully a hole tonight they're still
up there trying to secure they'll be
fine
thanks for watching this episode if you
liked it don't forget to leave a like we
are getting so close to be done so tune
in next week and see what else we've
completed it's coming quick things can
start going down here I would think in
the next few days
[Music]
you
