hey guys if you're new to our channel
I'm Dan and my partner too well and I
are sailing here in the Caribbean we're
just a couple of crazy Canadians we've
sailed all the way from Halifax Nova
Scotia all the way down here to the
Caribbean we are now in loop Iran which
is in the Dominican Republic and if you
haven't already subscribed to our
channel now is a good time just hit the
subscribe button right below the video
hey guys so we have now left concepcion
and we are sailing for the dominican
republic loop iran is the name of the
port that we'll be going into
we've had some strange weather changes
here we had to beat most of the night
last night it was pretty nasty was too
dark to film but it was rough sailing
and the waves were kind of big their
flight nning up now and now we're at the
edge of a warm front running from a cold
front there's a heavy north wind coming
later which will be good it'll push us
down to dominican but where we are right
now there's a change in the to pressure
system it's gonna cause squalls so I'm
watching for squalls
there's a squall right behind us but
beating into the wind it's not gonna
catch up with us and I'm watching
carefully for squalls ahead of us pretty
soon the winds gonna track around and it
should give us a nice angle to head
straight so we'll pass the auckland's
will pass my iguana and then we'll head
straight for Turks and Caicos and
turn at Turks and Caicos for dominican
republic we chose these waypoints
because if we have a problem we have a
place to tuck in so we've got all their
paperwork done for Turks for Zeus so
something goes wrong we can go there
anyway this is a four day trip so we did
its thing it started the clock around
just like it was supposed to and it
actually in the middle of that just kind
of died I started and just caught the
craziest looking little fish check this
out
not sure what that is they're gonna
throw back
so we are on day four of our passage to
the Dominican Republic business
for hours I can just see the mountains
Dominican Republic on the horizon just
gonna be beautiful
things cleaned up and getting ready this
morning and we found two flying fish one
on deck and one inside the boat somehow
[Music]
and land it on the couch between two
cracks and cushions in our couch you all
have the fun of finding that little
surprise this morning we are arriving in
the Dominican Republic now this is
LeBron there's a small safe harbor that
we're going to enter and there's a
government that's what we're going to do
our customs for Dominican at the very
end so we could turn off the motor
filings Jamaican Republic here

it's a lovely morning here in Lupron
Dominican Republic it's been raining for
three or four days straight here and a
lot of garbage and branches and mud and
all kinds of stuff has washed out into
the bay so the waters like a pretty
brackish here but the first day there
was a lot of flooding
it was just rafts of garbage out here
it's not too bad now though here in the
bran I think just about everybody is on
a mooring and why not I mean it's pretty
tight quarters in here and we paid $2
American a day for that morning so okay
it's a pretty good deal this is a little
rainwater collection system I came up
with or I guess the well came up with it
and I made it it's just a tarp and
underneath there's a fitting there and a
hose and some clamps holding that
together right now it's looking to kind
of kink tip it anyway and then you tie
that down or secure it somehow and then
I tied all the corners of that tarp to
the lifelines like this and I was
holding these ones here up with a bungee
when it's working all the water go down
through that fitting that I put there
that's just a regular ABS plumbing
fitting down the hose and to whatever
you want to go I had it running down the
deck here I was just filling a jug with
it but I can run it over on the deck on
this side into our water intake ports
here filled up our water tanks filled up
our shower bag that's one of those solar
shower bags some extra jugs now water
and lukrons not that expensive
they have ro water which is made by a
water maker like a giant industrial
water maker 50 pesos for 20 liters or
something like that so that's a really
good deal but hey if it's gonna rain
like heck why not collect the free water
and we plan that way back in Nova Scotia
beautiful day today I don't know what
we're gonna do we'll see let's see what
the day brings
is one of the meanest if they belong to
worth of matter and province Dominican
Republic we are developing 32 state I
will say a promise we are like in the
countryside of were to flatter the
progress here

yeah
I'm really excited to be here I've
always wanted to fly over but every time
I check the weather like it would always
show periods of rain throughout the week
and I was like I'm gonna go to Cuba
instead but no I'm glad we finally made
it here it's fantastic really it's the
people are so friendly we're having a
great time we're out today on a walking
path along the shores gonna check out
the sea State and we're gonna start
hopping along the coast here on her way
to Porto Rico
pretty soon we'll be leaving looper on
and heading to salmon ah and then from
salmon ah we'll be making our way over
