we're at that same place again fast tell
me where are we at in the job I'll be
perfectly honest I've been putting this
off because I got so many trepidatious
thoughts key not coming out of the end
of the shift easily finding out that the
length of the shaft will butt up here
against the end of the rudder and we
won't be able to fully remove the shaft
without dropping the rudder and then
once we do have the shaft out how easy
is it gonna be to get this Cutlass
bearing out there are tools that you can
get to make the job easy
we don't have one and we're not likely
to be able to get one locally so first
things first they're gonna pull it out
get to the key mark the key with a
permanent marking pen and take it from
there really
it's like eating an elephant thing isn't
it it is eating an elephant yeah the
problem is I'm thinking of five bites
ahead and doing I'm gonna get
indigestion one bite at a time look easy
for me to say because I'm not the one
that's doing the hard yakking
[Applause]
what the Cutlass bearing yeah I'm just
gonna mark so we know that this is the
end of the key yeah and that's the
bottom and this yep yeah you get a lot
of great suggestions from many of our
viewers of the video where we asked how
that key would come out and a lot of
people just said sprite with anything
lubricant grab your favorite pair of
mold grips or vice grips give it a good
yank so let's see how that goes a lot of
surface area there to grip did you spray
this sound cuz it might go in through
the gap at the top
[Music]
hmm you stick a little screwdriver in
the top there and sort of like a
screwdriver
how would it you talking quite heavy
forces here from the black marks
right more tools okay gonna need the
hammer screwdriver and a rag rag what
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
getting it yeah I guess I need to get
[Music]
well no great success with wd-40 and
pliers hammer a screwdriver it hasn't
budged millimeter come back to our video
and I'm gonna go through the comments
again to see if there's anything I
missed
it's obvious that you know ironically
the key is the key to get the whole job
done so frustrating because then one
they had
I'm using punch instead of the
screwdriver because it's got you know
more surface area surface area this may
be it is you kind of think once it
started shifting that it would just
glide when you what it must be a really
really snug fit a longer handle punch
it'd be better hey show us what you've
dropped there bit of a man tool it's a
punch so I've got more let's say yeah
and that looks small enough to fit in
there Oh seriously
yeah just comes out of the one top it is
coming out it's it's definitely out
further than it was there you go
[Applause]
see good certain piece of equipment that
isn't it okay okay okay let's celebrate
that
we had to use a big persuader and a lot
of belting so certainly not one tap and
he's out a lot of belting that's gots
lots of bears on it yeah so gonna get
that the Dremel I'll probably do that
anyway
here comes our next test see whether
we're gonna get this prop out having to
drop the rudder okay two wins so this is
the inside of a cup of berries education
nuts
well like yeah that's like seawater so
now the problem is how so is this the
part of yep Cutlass bearing yep already
remove the two grub screws to keep the
bearing in its position and
actually just look at a distance they
put it in wrong see the way they've got
the black group black bits and then
together it should be right there at the
base so when we put the new one in will
their prophet Patrick Sandin who has a
similar boat to assist these you know
son Odyssey forty five point two was
asking it about our glory folding prop
and what size is and with you really
know
I'd say we're probably looking at 50
centimeters an individual blade is 23
centimeters and the bit in the middle
about 8 okay all right so hopefully that
helps right now let's go up top and back
forward because there's something I want
to ask you guys
[Music]
inside our extremely dirty at the
moments anchor Locker we have a windlass
now this pole that's stored here goes
into the windows break and we've never
been able to use it because it is stuck
so the question is two questions really
what method would be best you think to
unstick it just a constant spray with
wd-40 over a week or so or is there
something better that we can do to
loosen it up and the other question is
to release the chain so it free falls
overboard do I push this this handle
forward or aft in other words is forward
tightening or is aft timing the wind
breaker
but eight bottles that's all I can carry
you can but is rate less than they were
on the beach before one miniscule beach
cleanup better than nothing oh hey I'd
like to take this opportunity to give a
big warm welcome to our newest patrons
Terry and Dennis Hamilton it's great to
have you aboard guys if you've enjoyed
this video give us a big thumbs up and
remember to subscribe if you haven't
