And we are back!!! In this video I am back at it with Cal 20 restoration. Quite a few things on the go at the same time: hole patching, fiberglassing, painti...

everybody has been asking what are we up
to and how come we're not doing any more
videos of the mochi Maria well we've
been away so this is my first time in
half a year that I'm gonna take a look
at it and see what's inside
I'm guessing due to the wind the cover
have shifted slightly and I'm afraid
there will be wasps like last time
[Music]
you see Miss actually mostly dry
apart from this little sport over here
the rest is as clean as I left it so
perfect this season what we have to do
let's finish the lining on the roof
paint the inside of the boats fit the
hatch in and get the windows in after
all that is done I'll need to fit all
the wooden or all the benches but in
order to get that done I need to make
sure that they will stay dry so first
things first all the windows didn't
notice at first but if you look behind
me a wasp nest I was wondering why there
were so many of them so so far I've been
stung three times this year and I do not
wish to add another one I'll try to
sneak out just like last year I will be
battling wasps first if you saw that
episode I was using wd-40 apparently it
was a great way to get rid of wasps but
this time I actually have a proper raid
[Music]
another thing that I want to do this
season is this scratch right there so my
understanding is when the boat was
trailered before the boat came off the
trailer and it created these scratches
[Music]
right now I'm planning to do a little
bit of fiberglassing when I did it last
time I missed a couple of spots around
the windows and also we have the bow to
complete as last time I'll be using this
fiberglass radio tourism that is marine
grade as well as ending only five drops
of catalyst because it's quite warm
outside but I also will be adding this
air dry wax for a finish that won't be
tacky again when you do this try to use
as little the resin as possible so one
maybe two ounces of the most at a time
[Music]
[Music]
and then on top I think no but the wax
doesn't say how much
so I'm guessing and from what I read is
about the same amount as catalyst and
should be
[Music]
for what they know about fiberglassing
and I'm not professional in any way
shape or form is that you need to start
from inside out so you try to make up
the middle portion first and then both
tiny pieces and then continue out from
inside so yeah that's exactly what I'm
planning to do if anything I know
no bubbles is
[Music]
[Music]
for paint I'll be using polyurethane
paint oh this right here and in fact and
there is a number of reasons why I
picked that so are there many options
out there polyurethane being one of them
also gel coat would be another favorite
one of many people but a polyurethane
paint can be applied over a normal
roller that is the primary reason why I
use that also it doesn't fade in a
number of videos that I saw gel coat a
fades after time and when you repair
certain patch in the boat it really
stands out where polyurethane paint
doesn't fade as much and can be repaired
at the later time and the color will
match the previous color

I was painting the other day and I was
hoping that I would make it before the
rain and one lesson learned
don't trust the meteorological data
because it screwed me it said that phone
rain for two days and it rained that
night before the Sun goes down I'll try
to finish the main hatch I was reading
up last night what is the best way to
seal the hatches and attach you know
best in cheapest way and so there is a
long discussion of using silicone on the
boat not using silicone on the boat and
what type of silicone is best and it
seems like the ideas are split and what
I'm gonna try is what some people
recommended some professionals to so I
trust them and they recommended using
the silicone from Home Depot or Corona
or Lowe's apparently and it is a mold
free silicone that dries fairly quickly
and it stays fairly flexible so we'll
see how it works don't hate me too much
if though you think it's a horrible
thing I understand that once it touches
a surface you can not apply anything
else until it's completely silicone free
but we'll see if the seal for seven
bucks is worth worth the seven bucks or
is it actually better to spend more
money what's the worst that can happen
right well that was a success took me
only about 17 minutes and everything I
think hopefully seal granted I actually
prepared beforehand so you didn't see
the whole thing but
yeah 17 minutes and hatches and want to
see I think it came out with very fine a
little bit of cleaning on the top before
the hatch itself and a corset
