after a few days in congas main town of
Niassa provisioning learning about local
traditions and folklore we were ready to
explore the seemingly endless gems of
the islands nearby the hour-long sail to
the next anchorage was calm and steady
making it pretty easy to multitask while
I worked up an appetite Jose and our
buddy Julian got to earlier go and catch
did they ever always tuna the Odeon
officers joking - not losing you look
yeah so it's gonna around
yeah from that good nice behind the fin
how do you feel about uh I'm super
excited
this means that we're gonna like a
masterpiece what do you think that is
like it came to us it looks like a great
guy oh my gosh it's a big chain oh yeah
if it's a day some saws you listen yeah
these two sides and a delicacy to eat a
lot
see you tonight sir that destroyed
oh definitely because oh yeah we had a
new eye good luck gifts come in many
forms and this 30 pound yellowfin tuna
was a gift indeed not only did we get
the protein that the boys are been
craving we had enough fish to feed 14
people three different ways with
leftovers for everyone but the bigger
gift was that we had a new family of
friends to enjoy it the next morning
us ladies headed to the beach to work
off our feast with a bit of beachy yoga
and the fellas took off on a kayak
expedition
[Music]
the expedition got the boys gung-ho
about all the other cool things there
would be to explore so before the sunset
we pulled up anchor and set off to find
another place to sleep for the night

along the way we heard about a hidden
cave that was once a meeting place for
Tongan royalty to host private feasts

talk about dinner review the next
morning we took off for our last and
favorite Anchorage in Tonga this is
definitely the narrowest entrance we've
ever done unfortunately we got some
other boats with us so one went through
I was safe
another is about to go through and then
we'll go but definitely very narrow
to sign up so basically what we do is we
yell out the desk so that we are aware
of where we're at so we're a little
extra cautious we upfront I'm in the
back or vice versa and oh my God we're
in 10 feet of water you can see the
shadow the dinghy right there and there
you can see the narrow narrow narrow
entrance that's the narrow essentials we
got to do we had the motor at cruising
speed and we were only going to knots
you can see there how all the water
narrows channel saluteth it's hard to
get some speed but yeah absolutely
beautiful beautiful with beautiful
scenery abound I was looking for any
excuse to get up the mast attaching a
new reflector to the side stay seemed to
convince the captain to hoist me up my
chore for the day is to install our
reflector this thing here we've had this
on the boat for like 7500 miles and have
never installed it and finally today I
decided you know what let's put it up
this is a shorter neck so attached it
with zip ties but needed a few more
they sent them up on a little elevator
video so finish off our finish off the
job and seal off my very professional
installation a little duct tape
[Music]
henkle girl all falling from this room
let me it's like astronaut booth give us
Kitty like and move the big ankles how's
that Olympic swim Oh eat them always on
over there because just hop on in five
minutes
yeah a big octopus but it's missing six
legs
video learner like a do and then you
miss the whales well I heard them I'll
decide on this timing down so I get he
he shot a Napoleon fish and spear got
stuck and the gun wasn't attached to it
so you lost the spear no better just the
spear than the gun right yeah fish no
yeah well we were timing down look at it
nobody's know that everything he knows
that's it okay so what I mean down and
you could definitely hear the whales
definitely hear them oh yeah
really close oh they were super close as
I said if she if she put her foot out
she would have kicked it fin that's what
she said
apparently they give birth like right
under one of these rocks it's amazing
well maybe drop tomorrow came and we
were feeling a little lazy honestly we
were settling quite comfortably into
island life but we knew it was time to
move on we're trying to check out Tonga
of course we came over I gotta check
this in said oh when you're checking out
don't bring the boat over just just
bring your documents hey and check out
so you brought a document Spade then
when we wanted to get stamps on our
passport you said Oh where's your boat
though you didn't bring it over it's
like no oh you got to bring it over now
I brought the boat over and the guy says
oh you didn't need to bring it over
bring your documents just in time caught
up with you what you got in your hand
oh I'll show you that for a whole lot of
boring documents and guess what
back in country we haven't paid them
some time somehow I always just forget
about it I don't mind being forgettable
when it comes to all checked out but
nowhere to go a few hours and some
serious brainstorming later we were
finally ready to make our way west
[Music]
so it's raining outside and I'm stuck
with Tina and ukulele I'm trying really
hard to learn but I don't even know what
some little eyes of Jane is so we got
this box and we thong in ukulele for
dummies so we got all these songs in
this book that we don't recognize so we
don't know if we're playing them right
or not can be done on how to super fast
what I'd say serenade us your decision
ready this is for you spike in Eleni
five six seven eight I know girl that
you don't know
well Liza Jane way hey guys Gina here
we've been getting a lot of questions
lately about why we haven't been
uploading any news video well the answer
is pretty simple someone's had to get a
job yep a job so after last cruising
season I decided to leave the boat in
Fiji and head back to San Francisco to
you know give my sea legs a rest and get
to know life again as a landlubber I got
a job and quite honestly was pretty nice
getting to spend some time my family and
taking advantage of some sort of the
perks of city living
you know like seemingly unlimited
showers and propane and grocery stores
are always full of everything that you
could possibly ever want well along with
city life also comes a lot of wind and
cold tasty weather here in San Francisco
and all that noise so I have decided
that it is high time to join Jose back
on cartago and continue cruising so I
will be headed back to the boat in Fiji
where we will spend the rest of this
season and then I will have the time to
update you with the rest of our travel
from last season the rest of Tonga Fiji
owes a solo trip to New Zealand and mine
to Indonesia as well as update you on
all of the cool things that we'll be
doing this year in Fiji so stay tuned
thank you so much for hanging with us
and hanging tight and next time I see
you it'll be somewhere a little bit
sunnier till next time
