Corpus Christi's winds average between 15 and 25 miles per hour making it a premier sailing destination. Sail across the 140 mile bay, the deepest in Texas, while taking in the sights and sounds of downtown Corpus Christi. Perfectly positioned along the Gulf Coast, Corpus Christi also offers opportunities for adventurous day tripping. From its open Gulf beaches to its protected coves, including the Laguna Madre, Gulf of Mexico, Corpus Christi Bay, and Bird Island Basin, the Corpus Christi area is attractive to beginners and experts alike.
Sailboat regattas are held every Wednesday evening on Corpus Christi Bay; spectators can appreciate the view from the marina.
Corpus Christi Marina
The Corpus Christi Marina is home to all types of water sports, sightseeing boats, sailing lessons, fishing charters, and restaurants. For visiting mariners, the marina features over 500 wet slips available for commercial and pleasure craft, four new state-of-the-art floating piers, a fuel dock and pump-out station, trailered and board boat storage, a boat repair facility with travel lift, free launching ramps, and a bait stand.
The long running, popular recreational regatta that features sailboats divided into four fleets with each fleet having its own start and finish. Races are held 52 weeks a year, weather permitting, and are scheduled at 5:30 p.m. during Daylight Savings Time and 6:00 p.m. the remainder of the year.
